Allied Air Cargo plane crashes in Accra

A cargo plane crashed in Accra today.  Here are some pictures. The police and military were all over the site.

Unfortunately, the plane fell on a passenger mini van, killing all passengers on board. The 4 man crew in the plane survived though. That is the mini van in the picture above.

They claim bad weather in Accra is partly to blame for the crash.

This taxi was also hit by the plane but suffered minimal injury compared to mini bus.

I wish the family of all those affected my condolences. It is a sad day in Accra today.

There's so much that so many have to answer for. We need to think about the location of that airport, where in the world is an airport so central? The investigation into how this happen must end with a recommendation of relocation of the international airport, of an additional truly international airport in Kumasi or Tamale, and of procedures to deal speedily with these situations whatever time of day they occur! How can the Mayor know that the plane has a possibility of exploding, and think it ok to leave the vehicle there until dawn. Not sure about you but my definition of emergency means urgent and immediate action is required.

Our condolences,
thanks for the pix. Hope they would prick our conscience. Getting things done right. the question is how safe is the location of this international airport?

Ah, as usual, pontification. Most of you NEVER thought this Airport was constructed at a time when that area WAS outside town. Oh, lemme guess, you weren't born? And you never checked? Pontification must come with hardcore suggestions. Not we must do this and do that.
